A message from Mrs Woodfin
It has been a summer of real celebration here. Our largest Sixth Form cohort to date achieved incredible A-Level and vocational results, with over 11% of grades at A* and students heading off to study a wide range of subjects and pursue diverse pathways, from Medicine at Oxford and Cambridge to degree apprenticeships with British Airways. Meanwhile, in Year 11, our students scored our highest ever Attainment 8 results, placing Bulmershe in the top 25% of schools nationally for progress.
While high marks are wonderful, what matters most to us is seeing our young people grow into confident, resilient and ambitious individuals. If you are currently exploring secondary schools, we would love to meet you at one of our upcoming open events.

Bulmershe Open Evening
Thursday 24th September from 5:30pm – 7:30pm
Our Open Evening is a great way to experience our school first-hand. You can hear from our Headteacher, take a tour led by our student guides and see all our departments in action. Our students will be ready to share their honest experiences and answer your questions. There’s no need to book – just come to Reception, located behind Bulmershe Leisure Centre.
If you can’t make the evening, we’ll also be running Open Morning tours on 29th and 30th September, 6th and 7th October 2026 from 9am – 10am. You’ll get a guided tour of the school while lessons are in full swing and a Q&A session with our Headteacher. Booking for these tours opens on 25th September on our website.
Settling In: The Year 7 Journey
Starting secondary school is a huge step, but our new Year 7s will be the first to tell you that no one walks into Bulmershe feeling lost on day one!
Long before September arrives, we spend time visiting Year 6 teachers to get to know each child’s unique personality and interests. We host two dedicated transition days in June, giving new students the opportunity to explore the campus, experience new subjects and get a feel for life at the school.
Best of all, every Year 7 student is paired with a Year 9 Peer Mentor. These older students are friendly, familiar faces from day one, helping new students settle in, find their way around the school and make new friends over lunch.

What makes Bulmershe special?
This term we welcomed 240 new Year 7 students coming from 32 different primary schools across the area! This incredible mix of backgrounds makes our campus a lively, welcoming place where different cultures are celebrated every single day.
Did you know we offer over 30 completely free clubs every week? Whether your child wants to sing in the choir, tackle chess strategies, build code, or complete their Duke of Edinburgh Awards, there is something free happening after school every day.
Our creative arts scene is buzzing, and sport is a massive part of our daily life. Thanks to our extensive playing fields, tennis courts, and close links with Goals and the Bulmershe Leisure Centre, there are endless opportunities to stay active. Add in ski trips to Italy, language visits to France and Spain, and theatre outings, there is always something to look forward to!
We also keep things fun with ClassCharts. Students collect points for achievements, helpfulness and effort, which they can spend in our Rewards Shop on treats like canteen cookies, highlighters, or even hot chocolate with Mrs Woodfin!
A curriculum for the future
We believe learning should feel like an adventure, which is why our curriculum mixes classic academics with hands-on discovery.
In Key Stage 3, every student builds strong foundations across English, Maths and Science, while also trying a whole range of other subjects. Students get to pick a Leadership and Challenge pathway, building real-world skills such as Lifeguarding or Cookery, Combined Cadet Force, or Sports Leaders qualifications.
As students move into GCSEs, they can tailor their timetable with subjects like Drama, 3D Design, Music and Photography alongside core subjects. To give maths lovers an extra boost, top sets even get to take GCSE Statistics early in Year 10.
We also arrange work experience placements for Years 10 and 12, giving everyone a taste of real workplace life before they graduate.

Rather than just rules on a wall, these values shape our daily life. Through lessons, hands-on activities, trips and assemblies our goal is to help every student discover their passions, care for others and step out into the world ready for anything!
Putting wellbeing first
We know that children learn best when they feel safe, happy and comfortable in their own skin. That is why mental health is simply “everyone’s business” at Bulmershe.
Our dedicated inclusion team provides continuous support, offering one-to-one mentoring and small group sessions based on proven Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques. Whether someone needs help navigating friendships, managing exam nerves or just wants a quiet space to catch their breath, there is always a friendly ear available.
In 2024, we were officially awarded the national Wellbeing Award for Schools in partnership with the National Children’s Bureau, recognising our commitment to putting happiness and emotional health at the core of school life.
